There are currently 300 undergraduate students at Manchester Metropolitan University on the Social Change BA course, the majority of who do placements and community-related units. There are also a further 30 (undergraduate and postgraduate) on a BA Community Psychology course who do placements, and further students on a professional BA Youth and Community degree.
Students on BA Social Change/BA and MA Community Psychology will train as community organisers in addition to their degree and gain practical experience through their placements.
A large proportion of the BA Social Change students are from diverse backgrounds and disadvantaged communities.
Students could self-select or be selected from the above degrees to be part of the Community Organisers programme and this would be in addition to their degree learning and qualification.
