Keystone Development Trust
Name: Keystone Development Trust
Location: Thetford
Organisers at Keystone Development Trust

Working throughout Norfolk, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire, primarily in the Thetford, Brandon, Newmarket and Mildenhall area, Keystone is the biggest development trust in the Eastern Region and one of the largest development trusts in England.

As a development trust Keystone delivers diverse social projects through generating income from its own not for private profit social enterprises as well as public and other funds. Keystone aims to deliver projects which fill local people with passion, keep money in their pockets and create great places to live.

The area Keystone serves experiences entrenched deprivation, inter-community tensions and pressing social needs. It combines urban and rural issues, and is increasingly diverse as mobile European workers live, work and settle in the area.

The Trust would develop community organisers through its current projects:

KAVO (Keystone Area Voluntary Organisations) would promote and recruit community organisers through its 150+ members. Working in partnership with the local voluntary sector KAVO would provide a range of training for community organisers to gain skills appropriate for developing and engaging with the local community.
META (Mobile Europeans Taking Action) would attract community organisers from the migrant communities to help promote integration and opportunities for new communities.
Volunteer to Work would encourage local community members to see becoming a community organiser as an opportunity to improve their skills and experience, a way to make a difference locally and potentially improve their employability.
