ETEC (East Training Education and Community) is a Development Trust and registered Charity delivering a large variety of projects and services. Founded in 1991 when it separated from Sunderland's East Community Association, ETEC has moved from providing training, learning and employment support to a much wider role as a Community Anchor organisation.
We continue to see trading and contract work as income generating activities, alongside the development of Assets, Partnerships and Social Enterprise opportunities. Our services include providing quality training primarily in the construction and administration vocational areas but we can also deliver bespoke training in other areas when requested. We are also commended on our delivery of Maths and English teaching and support.
Our projects operate within and for the benefit of the community, such is the case with Children's Essential Services which is a city-wide programme providing advice, support and child safety information as well as facilitating a toy library service for individuals and play groups,.
ETEC works to a purpose agreed with local people which was updated in January 2010 which states:
"We work with individuals, groups and communities fulfilling their aspirations through support, learning and employment in a culture of excellence."
